Whowhatwear Day 20: Dress down your favourite little black dress.

This pic doesn't show the detail on this dress, which is a shame. It has a beautiful beaded hem which is sadly starting to unravel. I bought this dress from TK Maxx years ago as I didn't have a staple LBD in my wardrobe. It's been a  go-to piece for smarter events ever since, but it was nice to wear it as a day dress too.

Whowhatwear Day 19: Pair your favourite denim pieces together for a denim-on-denim look.

I've always been a bit wary of the double denim look, scared of going full on 90's. Or veering too far into cowgirl territory. Think I just about got away with this one though, mixing different shades of denim and keeping it simple.

Whowhatwear Day 18 - Try out a new 'tuck'

I don't often wear tucked in clothes as I don't think it works with my proportions. However I really love this look. I picked up this knit in the sales after searching for an oversized jumper for ages. Together with a houndstooth skort and my favourite two-two-tone boots, it's casual and comfy but also a little bit different.

Whowhatwear Day 17: Winterize your favourite summer skirt.

I love this skirt in summer - it has an elasticated waist so it's super comfy. As per usual I've added everything black to this outfit but at least the skirt is colourful! I've picked out the blues in the skirt with a pashmina I picked up in Paris years and years ago.

Whowhatwear Day 16: Go monochrome in a bright colour.

Today's challenge was definitely a step outside my comfort zone. I wouldn't usually wear a bright colour head to toe but I really enjoyed this look. Orange featured quite heavily in the A/W shows last year and it's a colour you don't see that often. I softened it for my commute by adding lots of black as usual, but I like the contrast with the brightness of the orange.

Whowhatwear Day 15: Create a look with three levels of layering.

Today's look isn't my most stylish. Sometimes I really am just a denim, trainers and t shirt kind of girl and today was one of those days. I did manage to layer my clothing though, proof that you can meet a style challenge on a dressdown day!

Whowhatwear Day 14: Mix two or more prints into your outfit.

Going all out with the Primark prints today. Everything else is black, but the peacock themed t shirt print and leopard cardigan are pretty bold and cover the remit.

Whowhatwear Day 13 - Make a neutral outfit interesting by layering and adding a pair of statement shoes

Neutral is easy for me, I often end up in head to toe neutrals if I don't have time to think about matching colours or patterns. I'm really into grey at the moment so my outfit is mostly grey, with a white t shirt (just seen) and an ecru Jacket. After declaring my love for flats in yesterday's outfit, I've cracked out these amazing statement red leopard shoe boots.

Whowhatwear Day 12: Swap heels for sneakers

Any excuse to wear flats over heels is good with me. I know heels can really make an outfit, and they're great for elongating your leg and making you walk taller. But oh the comfort of wearing comfy shoes on an evening out and not hobbling home in pain at the end of the night. Keeping things dressy with embellishment and sparkles.

Whowhatwear Day 11: Wear a bold print

Although I do like to wear a lot of black, I do also enjoy mixing it up with a print or pattern every once in a while. I fond it quite difficult to match items to this dress so I usually default to brown. The birds are a mix of blues, pink and stone - colours in which I don't own many other clothes. Maybe it's time for a shopping trip!

Whowhatwear Day 10: Mix an expensive item from your closet with something under $100

Nearly every item in my wardrobe cost well under $100. These boots are probably one of the most expensive products in my fashion arsenal. I got them in the sale but the cost price was closer to the designer price range than your average high street store. Everything else I wore was from Primark, to try and balance it out!

There's a lot of 50 shades of grey talk going on at the moment, so I decided to be a bit silly and paint my nails 5 shades of pink. It was funny at the time.

Whowhatwear Day 9: Actually wear the hat you think you can't pull off.

I really like hats. On other people. It's so rare that I wear my hair down and I'm actually able to wear a hat, so I hardly ever wear hats. I love fedoras, and I really want a big floppy 70s hat, but I've not got around to buying either yet so couldn't wear one for this challenge! I went for an old floppy beanie, and I do love it, so maybe thanks to today's challenge I'll buy a more adventurous hat and make an effort to wear it.

Whowhatwear Day 8: Break out an item you haven't worn in at least 6 months

This was a bit of a tricky challenge. Although I own more clothes than I can fit on my wardrobe, I tend to wear them all, apart from formal dresses. One day I might be brave enough to wear a ballgown to work, but for today I went with some cropped jeans I've not worn since summer and a t shirt from the back of my wardrobe! Not my favourite look so far, but it's still good to try different things.

Whowhatwear Day 7: Focus on your jewellery

I love to wear jewellery, but a lot of it is quite subtle so I tried to wear more interesting items today to make them more of a focus. This is a beadwork necklace I made from an online tutorial. I love it, but it took a very long time to make! I added some amber earrings in addition to my usual collection of ear metal, and added some more alternative rings to my usual silver selection and some bangles to complete the collection. Oh, and there are a load of roller derby badges on my lapel. Sort of jewellery!

Necklace tutorial here. It's realllly American so you might want to fast-forward bits if you feel like giving this a go! I did.

Whowhatwear Day 6 - Wear the item you've been 'saving' for a special occasion

I bought these paisley embroidered shorts on a bit of a whim because the moment I saw them, I knew I had to have them! But they had sat in my wardrobe for ages, as I hadn't found an opportunity to wear them. So what better excuse than today's challenge! Since the pattern on these shorts is so beautiful I kept everything else basic and black, apart from this gorgeous embroidered scarf which was a gift from Hong Kong.

Whowhatwear Day 5: Change out your handbag

I usually carry the same handbag every day so it was nice to change it up for once. Although it was a major downsize to this little leather cross Body number! It's one of a couple of pieces in my wardrobe handed down from my mother, and I matched it with some tan boots to make it more of a statement piece.

I was going to give some nail art a go but I loved this nail colour so much I left it plain. It's from "Jess" @ Poundland!

Whowhatwear Day 4: Try a boyish look

I struggled with today's challenge a bit. My normal style doesn't really touch on masculine or boyish elements. To me, masculine styling works better on a slighter frame, whereas my shape is a little top heavy. But the challenge was to try a boyish look, so I tried!

Whowhatwear Day 3 - Go big or go home

The site suggests matching an oversized coat with a baggy t shirt and loose trousers for today's challenge. I don't really own an oversized coat or loose trousers, and it's too cold for just a t shirt. So i went with a big fluffy jumper and upped the volume with a cosy cape. Lots of black and grey, which I'm fast realising is the staple of most of my wardrobe!

Whowhatwear Day 2 - Mix at least two textures into your look

All of the fur! It was reallly cold and actually snowing when I left the house this morning, so wrapping up warm seemed like the best option. Coat, boots and headband for a furry texture, mixed up with black denim jeans, a really soft grey marl polo and a chunky suede belt.

Whowhatwear Day 1 : Wear a Bright Colour Combo

I wear a lot of black. So it seemed fitting that the first day of the challenge required me to wear brights! I still defaulted to a fair amount of black, but went for skirt from Joy and a gorgeously soft pashmina given to me as a bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding at New Year.

I threw on some silver rings and experimented with an oil-slick style nail. It didn't come out exactly how I'd hoped but I like the effect and I'll definitely try it again.
